Cigar Places Around America

We all love the Tinderbox, but once we get out of Charlotte, it sometimes is a challenge to find a good Cigar Lounge. This is the place to share your experiences on some places you have encountered.

I was in Grand Rapids, MI last week and had dinner at Chop House (which I strongly recommend for steak) located 190 Monroe Ave NW next door to the Amway Plaza. After having one of the best cowboy ribeyes I've had in awhile I went downstairs to La Dolce Vita which is their desert and cigar bar. Very nice atmosphere with brick interior and fireplace, plazma screens and comfortable leather chairs. They had a nice selection of cigars as they had Opus X Robustos($50 was a little steep) which can be hard to find, I ended up selecting Olivia O Torpedo ($14). They also had a full bar. I've been going to Grand Rapids for decades for business and usually stay at Amway, can't believe that I didn't know of this great cigar bar just next door.

I've got a new one... Fire n Smoke, 96 Center St., Southington, CT 06489 (about 10 miles south of Hartford off of I-84). They sell nuts, hot sauce and Cigars with a nice lounge (no charge if you buy a cigar. Nice people!!! www.firensmoke.com

I took the advice and went to the Corona Cigar Company on Sand Lake Road in Orlando. This place was unbelievable. Here is the low down:

1.Giant Humidor. It seemed bigger than J&Rs and the difference was it was loaded with premium cigars and not junk.
2. Bar: Beer, wine, and coffee.... In addition they had cuban coffee
3.Hostesses: All wearing lovely skirts.... my hostess happened to be wearing a very nice mini and using a feather duster to clean some wine bottles..... need I say more....
4.Exclusive Cigar Blends: CAO had special blends just for Corona - the CAO Ecuador - mild, and CAO Costa Rica - medium.
5.TVs and Sitting lounge.

And yes...they had 601s... :-)
This is a must go when you go to Florida.

I'm in Baton Rouge this week and found a cigar bar called Churchills, just off US route 12 on Jefferson Highway. 2 bars, didn't require that I buy a cigar but I did. Smoked a Perdomo 10 anniversary maduro. Going back tomorrow night for some jazz. They have music Wed-Sat. very cool

Carmine's Cigars II (Staten Island, NY)

Located on Richmond Avenue by the Eltingville Train Station.

# Address: 3872 Richmond Ave, Staten Island, NY, 10312
# Phone: (718) 605-5801

This place was a real find. The Cigar Lounge (very clean) basically has some nice leather chairs at the front of the store. They have a beautiful humidor with plenty of selection - and great prices. They do say they have a $10.00 minimum to smoke at the store, but they didn't enforce it while I was there.

If you are in Charleston, SC there is a great little place called Club Habana. It is actually above the Tinderbox store, and you have to go through the store to get to the club, but they are two separate business's. The tinderbox does not have the best selection, in my opion, so be sure and take you own. They have a great drink selection and is very comfortable. Only opens at 4pm each day.

Sounds like a good plan, I can support that suggestion.

Maybe we should start posting these places by State. That way, if you are traveling, rather than just reading through a ton of postings (we don't have a ton yet, I know) we can go directly to the State we are interested in, and read through that to find some good spots. What do you guys think?

Eric, I second your recommendation for Carona Cigar Company. I went to the Lake Mary location (it is north of town and 1 exit from where I was Staying). They now have 3 locations.
